How to listen to wood
Free movement mobile, with a rotating wooden post acting as a mallet for percussion instrument. Gramophone clay objects emphasize 3 different types of wood utilized in the sculpture and their unique resonant qualities. Reclaimed materials were gathered from a range of construction sites in Northern New Mexico. The sculpture is an interrogation of a wind-chime, a sounding object popular with native craftsmen and artisans.
